And it’s all fantastic.
With their first record, the self-released Don’t Talk Of California, Honest Engines set the stage for what would become their signature sound (no pun intended). Garnering a bunch of positive press around their hometown of Chicago, it was the sound of a new band putting together the first pieces of a puzzle. With Captain’s Log, Honest Engines have taken those pieces and thrown them up in the air only to have them land perfectly in an entirely new arrangement.
Captain’s Log is epic. And we don’t mean “epic” in the 2009 way, we’re talking actual “epic.” The songs are made of grand movements. Maloney’s atmospheric guitar rings over Hennessey’s big, precise drumming, while Mulcahy’s careful tenor meanders its way through the melody lines.
Captain’s Log will be available as a free download from https://www.tradebit.com starting November 24th. It will also be available for physical release on December 8th.
