This recording had a winding journey to its finished state...
The band had been gigging 19 original songs, so these were all earmarked for the album. Jamie played the grand piano with a steaming hangover and I played a guide bass to a click, and overdubbed acoustic guitar and vocals, each in a long session. 19 tracks in one go!! On listening back, the amount of fluffs, clicks, pops and general shoddiness of these tracks meant they had to be replaced more carefully...
Jamie added hammond and rhodes parts , Jonny added his electric guitar, and then he and Pete recorded their harmony vocals. Bizarrely Eryl''s drums went down last.
The 19 tracks became 11 for the album.
Everything was then thinned out arrangement wise and expertly mixed by Mark Jones
