The four Sonatas of the opus 65 of the great romantic composer Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (1809-1847), which are presented here together with the Prelude and Fugue in C minor, are a good example of his organ style and the exquisite variety of the stylistic and formal solutions he adopted.
The exciting live executions recorded here are taken from two memorable concerts which took place in Rome on 20 and 22 October 2009 at the valuable Steinmeyer organ of the Lutheran Evangelical Church, on the occasion of the bicentenary of birth of the composer.
