Les Horn is an experimental electric violinist/sound artist residing in Columbus Ohio who has performed with the performance artist/sound troupe, Queen Mae and The Bells, as well as performed solo experimental violin. With an interest in experimental sound art, Horn developed MOD/zoo and has garnered sounds from things so unimaginable such as a bag of pretzels to the spokes on a spinning bike wheel. The cd "Catalogue Of Untied Things" is the debut cd for MOD/zoo. It may be partially defined as "Bartok meeting Dadaism inside an electronic Fisher-Price toy". A combination of noise, distortion, melodic chaos, uniform and not uniform blending, playful textures, eerie landscape, unusual layers and swirling metal nuance. No traditional instruments are used except for a small Casio keyboard at times. Horn is preparing an experimental sound performance in which found and live sounds as well as the violin will be incorporated. the mod/zoo follow-up cd "jeel" will be released early 2009.
