Details:
From Sonny Sharrock to Steve Vai, I have loved the joy that instrumental guitar music has brought me. This was a chance to step away from the more conventional nature of Average Analysis and take a journey.

''Rolling Thunder'' is one of the most joyful things I have ever created. I smile every time I listen to it. Something magical came with this. The ways the tracks fit and sound together, the groove that it hits. It all works for me in a way I can''t explain.
''Distorted View'' has a part 2:25 seconds in that was - to me - perfect. Just the change there felt like I nailed something that I completely did not expect.
''Rock 101'' was my back to basics song. I just wanted something stripped down and raw. A hearty riff that just bounced and made me feel good.
''Modern Racket'' was the start. I had thought of doing this album for a while, but felt like life was getting in the way. One day I said to myself, "go for 30 minutes and see what happens." So, I did. This is what I got in 30 minutes. I love the 90''s modern rock feel of this and it''s so loud and aggressive. When I was done I knew I had to make this album.
''Laurelized'' is my favorite riff on the album. It just seems so casual and catchy. I just tried to put some guitar over it that would do the riff justice.
''Phasing Waves'' was very experimental. I liked the track, but in listening back I felt it was missing something. So, I started to play with effects to see if that helped. The added phasing gave it - to me - a great liquid feel. Almost like listening to music underwater. The kicker, though, was the tremelo on the lead guitar.
''Walking the Glass'' is because of Rock Band. My brother got it for Christmas and we played Faith No More''s Epic. I always thought a line in that song was “walking the glass”, but it was “walking on glass”. So, the next day as I wrote this, that phrase kept clouding my mind. I like that this turned out not smooth. The main guitar line is almost buzzsaw like. I took it as the way to walk the glass is to be as jagged as possible.
''Obtuse Possession'' was my mood music. I wanted something that was more esoteric and atmospheric. I love the Middle Eastern-esque drone of the guitar in this a lot.
''Something to Say'' is odd. The keyboard riff is something I have just plinked at for years. Once I had the drum beat going I started playing and that riff came out. Then, though, things went wacky with the guitar. It starts off chaotic and off beat – almost unsure of itself. As the song plays the guitar builds it finds its legs until it starts roaring in the climax and fades back at the end. To me, I was telling a story. I don''t know if anyone not reading this will ever get that, but that''s art for you.
''Mind Over Mars'' is weird. I like weird, and this took a long time to take shape. I had another 4-5 tracks of instrumentation that did not get used here. The more I massaged it, the more I like the ones that ended up here.
''September Never Remembers'' is the cherry on top. It has no guitar and is just soft and melancholy. I hope this is not what someone would expect when then get to the end of this album. That was my point. I don''t have a major label telling me what to do next. The next album might be Instrumental Rock or Irish Folk tunes sung by squirrels. I really am not sure. I just hope that you will come along for the ride.

Thanks to everyone that helped make this album possible.
