Details:
The birth of this CD has a history that goes back 12 years. Incredible but true! Many recording studios came into play such as Carlos Rodriguez’s studio and MAS Audio studio (1997), Javier Hernandez’s studio (1997-1998) and finally Freddie Piniero’s studio (1999-2009). These last few years have been very difficult for me and my health. But, in the midst of my challenges, I played at many concerts in jazz clubs and pubs on the Island, and in the Metropolitan area. I was hired by many and played at a few fairly large concerts. One involved Justo Almario and his jazz group at Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. There was also the Pablo Picasso art exposition at the Museum of Arts in Ponce, a concert at the University of Puerto Rico (Rio Piedras), the Henekein Jazz festival and one involving Wito Morales known as the Chivas Regal jazz concert. I played in many hotels such as the Sands (presently known as San Juan Grand) and at the Dorado Beach Plantation Village (1997-2009). I also participated in various jazz recordings: “Real Latin Jazz”, “Percussion, Piano and Strings” made by the Latin Beat Magazine and Magazine California. During this last recording I played together with Eddie Palmieri, Ray Barreto, Chucho Valdes, Poncho Sanchez, Chano Dominguez, and other Jazz legends. I also participated in the Heineken Jazz Fest 1997 CD (Thanxs to Luis Alvares, Mendez & Co. and The Puerto Rico Heinekein Jazz Fest for handle us their live performances). I made studio recordings involving Salsa, local (Jibaro) and Reageeton music. On the personal side: I accepted Jesus Christ as my savior, went through Bariatric surgery and have lost over 200 pounds. This CD is the result of the past 12 years and I call it the “live and studio” years because I included songs developed live and others developed at studios. I pray that you find great joy in this compilation of music as it reflects my inspiration and my love for jazz. God Bless you greatly!

Thanks to my class student Diachira Mary Hernandez Garcia and Roxan Eileen Garcia Marrero for helping me put my thoughts into words in the Dedication, the trajectory and the credits. And, thanks to Louis and Ginny Prado for their support in the translation. Special thanks to the Professor Gladys Muñoz (NASA) and to Oscar Resto for his for his contacts with NASA (wih Joseph Acaba the “Boricua” Astronaut) and for support in making the Jazz Regueton song “Fuera del Mundo” a success. I love you both. Thanks also to Doctor Ana Teresa Santos Quinones for performing my bariatric surgery and to Sonia Amaro for sponsoring me down the path of losing 200 pounds. Thanks to Omayra Borrero. To all the “bariatric” with morbid obesity problems I’d like to say that if I can achieve the goal, you can also.
