Dan Jurkowitz has taught Judaic/Israeli music at Congregation Anshei Israel in Tucson, Arizona since 1990. Music for Shirim Bamidbar (Songs in the Desert) was written by Dan and includes songs for Chanukah, Sukkot, Havdalah, weddings, children and new melodies for traditional Hebrew songs. 4. Ani Yoshev
(This song was written during a Melton retreat with Debbie Friedman in Idyllwild, California. This was the same weekend Debbie wrote The Hail Blessing. The participants were out hiking in the mountains when it started to hail on us. We all gathered under a large tree for shelter and recited the hail blessing. Immediately, the hail ceased. Debbie used the event as inspiration for her song. I sat down by a stream and composed Ani Yoshev.)
