When looking for a metaphor to describe the musical offerings of this band, you don’t need to look much farther than the melting pot town where all three members grew up. Las Vegas is the polish and refinement of the high roller casinos, and the gritty presence of the homeless watching the light shows downtown. Vegas offers the escape of roller coasters and circus acts, and is the town that the mob built, of the rat pack, and where “What happens here. . .”
Like so much of the most interesting music, Thrown Clear’s songs are the amalgamation of many divergent and sometimes contradictory influences. Yet these influences are melded so seamlessly, few of them are directly or obviously identifiable. That is a great part of the listening experience: the listener can hear some of these different flavors of influence, but often have a difficult time naming the ingredients. And for the best tracks, you can then listen again, and discern hints of other bands and styles that have left their mark. The more time you spend, the deeper the flavor profile.

Thrown Clear''s PLEASE is like meeting an old friend unexpectedly. There is familiarity but also a newness to be discovered and explored. Hooky guitar riffs, rock solid drumming, groovy & punchy bass and overall adept musicianship communicates contemplative, brooding, deep and insightful outlets for the pain, angst, confusion, and irony that comes with life''s journey. This isn''t the endless moaning, groaning, and bitching that we''ve heard before, this is powerful alchemy in transforming life''s challenges into sonic expression. Rock, metal, grunge, power, groove, intensity... Which adjective to use? There are influences of U2, Perfect Circle, Live, and other more familiar bands, but Thrown Clear does not sound like any of them -- they are unique all their own... Production is superb. The bottom line is that there isn''t a bad track on the disc. It grows on you evermore with each listen, and hauntingly stays with you. I can''t wait to hear what they will do next. Totally worth it.
