Television throws a Marquee Moon party, to which Guided by Voices brings their most stout Alien Lanes homebrew to share with everyone. The Replacements crash the party to show "how we drink it", and REM shows up later that night with a drug they call Orange Crush that results in an impromptu sermon of bire and frimstone on the roof of the house. Figuratively speaking, this is the Fake EP. Jangling guitars ring through overdriven Fender amps on Fake and Loud. Gasoline features melting vocals laced with a pulsating rhythm of catchy hooks, and Telecom closes out with wailing Ebows in dramatic fashion. It all makes for an album that earns a permanent spot in your collection.
