When Dan & Don Chookaszian and Steve Smith began lending instrumental support to the praise and worship team at their church in 1998, little did they know their efforts would result in the release of their debut CD eight years later in 2006. During that ensuing period, Dan completed his Masters degree in Divinity from the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and wrote all but one of the original songs contained on “Lookin’ Straight Ahead.”
It is difficult for the Band to categorize their own music. While the lyrics are definitively Christian and scripture centered, the music shows the influences of the cross generational makeup of the band. Abel’s Offering has taken all of these influences and blended them together into a sound which is truly their own, a sound which they apply even when playing hymns or covering other artists’ songs during Sunday worship.
The purpose of this CD is two-fold: To help reach people who have not yet accepted Jesus as Lord with the message of God’s love for them, and to be an encouragement to those who are followers of God’s Son.
Regardless of whether you are a seeker or a follower, this CD is for you.
