Founded in 1994., Awkward Beaker, a powerhouse, New York-based rock quartet, draws its ethos and ideology from Croatia, where co-founders Sasha Batina (vocals) and Zoran Korica (bass) were born and raised. Combining their musical talents in like-minded bands, from early mainstays such as Liverpool''s Beatles and Seattle''s Pearl Jam, Batina and Korica found their malodic-tinged rock voice after pairing up with a talented Indoesian-born guitarist, Gunawan Moehammad, whose soaring fret work added the perfect intermingling with Korica''s crunching bass licks, and was an ideal fit alongside Batina''s vocals. Drummer Joshua Rzepnicki, originating from Sleepy Hollow, NY, found his precussion play aptly rounded out and anchored this band''s unique style and sound. The outfit''s hard work on stage and in studio paid off when the group was invited out to Los Angeles to take part in the Angel City Music Market Festival where Awkward Beaker was one of the festival''s stand-out acts, chosen for a Top-20 Compilation among more than 250 participating bands.
