Details:
Adam Levy first hit the airwaves in the mid 1990s, when his soulful guitar playing graced Tracy Chapman’s hit single “Give Me One Reason.” For the past five years, Levy has been better known for his steady gig as the featured guitarist in Norah Jones’ Handsome Band. He played on her breakout 2002 disk Come Away with Me, as well as her ’04 follow-up Feels Like Home. Even more recently, he guested on Amos Lee’s eponymous Blue Note debut and played select tour dates with Rosanne Cash.
In addition to Levy’s skills as a guitarist, he is an exceptional songwriter. He penned “In the Morning” for Jones’ Feels Like Home, and other artists have recorded his songs. The best way to hear Levy’s folk/pop gems, however, is always straight from the source.
Loose Rhymes—Live on Ludlow Street is Levy’s auspicious debut as a performing songwriter. Recorded and mixed by Grammy-winning producer Steve Rosenthal, the album was tracked live at the Living Room—the cozy venue called home by New York City’s most gifted songwriters. Levy’s agile backing band includes bassist Todd Sickafoose (Ani DiFranco) and drummer Ben Perowsky (Joseph Arthur, Kaki King).
