MP3 Evan Altshuler - Shine all the Time

It''s catchy; it''s upbeat; it''s soothing, and it''s a songwriter''s CD, but more than that - it''s a thorough and meaningful introduction to a promising new voice in the singer-songwriter revolution, Evan Altshuler.

10 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Acoustic, FOLK: Folk Pop

Details:
Evan Altshuler began a recent concert by asking everyone in the audience to name their favorite flavor of ice cream because he wanted to "get the good vibes flowing." Over the next two hours, Evan and his band (Evan Garfield: percussion, Michael Pedron: bass and special guest George Zhen: piano) figuratively mixed their acoustic instruments together to deliver a flavorful performance of rock, folk, blues, funk and jazz music that was undeniably non-vanilla.

Songs like the toe-tapping and humorous "Wet Hot American Summer" had everyone grooving in the packed, sold-out venue, while the quiet beauty of "The Ghosts of Us" inspired an attentive silence. Between songs, Evan played with the crowd, teasing TV theme songs and inviting sing-alongs on everything from Marvin Gaye''s "Let''s Get it On" to Ashlee Simpson''s "Pieces of Me" to the encore - a theatrical rendition of The Lion King''s "The Circle of Life," which boasted a "Say maƱana. Penguin, I''m a baller" chant.

On the debut album, Shine all the Time, Evan and his band (Garfield, Pedron and special guests Derek Fairholm: piano and Dan Kalisher: additional acoustic guitar, backing vocals) present fans with a similar blend - insightful, clever lyrics ("Evan and the Evident," "Untitled") and folk-rock meets jazz-blues instrumentation ("Tears Away," "Life on the Moon"), or as they call it, "straight up good music." "We went into this thing not worrying. Music is fun to play, and the songs will work themselves out; everything else is just icing," Evan said. "The best stuff just kind of falls out of the sky; we''re just trying to catch it."

Currently Evan splits his time between South Florida and New York''s Hudson Valley, 70 miles north of New York City. He plans to continue touring and writing songs for another studio album in the future. Above all, Evan hopes that music, like everything else, will help him grow and mature, play and experiment, and most importantly, keep living a life rich with flavor, fullness and delicious ice cream.
