Alexander the Ghost is a joining of lifetime musicians with one goal in mind: to make music that lasts; music that means something. With their roots planted in the soil of jazz and blues, this rock quintet has discovered a universal sound of expression. The best part is that these five gentlemen will continue to be musicians, applying realisitic expression to each of their songs, no matter how popular or unpopular the music becomes. The musicians behind Alexander the Ghost are dedicated until they die. This is not some "we''ll try to be famous in order to keep from having other jobs" outfit. Music will always be their trade. No quitting involved.
Their debut album, "This War Is Love," is an entire story told through ten songs. The main theme throughout deals with the deadliest of human plagues: loneliness. The first track maintains "you can talk to me/everything will be alright;" beginning the story. After the next eight tracks swell through other sources of human loneliness, the album finishes with the seven-plus minute epic, "In Heaven," which claims: "for what is the point of achieving/if there is no chance to fail/and what is love/is it a feeling/if there is no other way to feel?" Although Michael Haase''s (singer/guitarist/main composer) lyrics are written with precision, this album honors the original reason for music: to hear what you need to hear without using words.
The rhythm section of Alexander the Ghost is impressive. It is comprised of Andrew Michalec (keyboards), Jeremey Poparad (basses), and Patrick Wagner (drums, percussion). All three are prominent musicians in the jazz scene of Ohio. All three have degrees in jazz studies. Even with the hectic schedule of the jazz musician, all three participate in Alexander the Ghost because it drives their love for music even further.
The frontline of Alexander the Ghost is where their distinctive sound comes into play. Alexander the Ghost is headed-up by two longtime friends, Michael Haase (vocals, rhythm guitars), and Sean Larson (lead guitars, vocals). These two gentlemen have been playing together since the beginning of high school, and will be playing together for as long as they can. Both are certified audio engineers (they studied in school together), and they made a collaborative effort to produce "This War Is Love," and they, as well as the rest of the band, are extremely proud of the finished work.
Not one member of Alexander the Ghost would say thet they are anything less than proud of "This War is Love." They hope that you listen, enjoy, and fell inspired by it.
