MP3 Alison Wood - At Arm's Length
Really singable tunes with intelligent lyrics in a folk-pop package. A little bit Ani, a little bit Norah Jones, a little bit white-boy-with-guitar but with a lot of smart girl thrown in.

Alison Wood always knew that music was in her cards. After a childhood filled with piano and flute lessons, choir rehearsals, orchestra concerts, and endless hours of listening to the stereo, it was inevitable that she find her way to a musical career.
After graduating college, Alison decided it was finally time to pick up the new instrument she had always wanted to learn: the guitar. She spent some months teaching herself on a hand-me-down from an uncle, but its lack of frets beyond the eighth began to prove problematic. It was when she bought her first guitar that she began writing, inspired by the singer-songwriters she had become so fond of listening to and seeing perform.
Less than four years later, Alison has released her first full-length album, as well as an EP, and has begun to make a name for herself around the greater Boston area. Performing at such venues as Club Passim and the Paradise Lounge, and opening for artists like Chad Perrone Alison has been steadily growing her audience as she continues to write and to hone her craft.
With her unique brand of acoustic pop, paired with intelligent, affecting lyrics and complemented by her warm, energetic stage presence, Alison is undoubtedly one to watch. Her fans say you can "hear her smile" when she sings; give her disc a spin and you''re sure to find yourself smiling too.
