Details:
A native of northwest Florida, I began playing music in my early teens. I''ve been playing in bands and as a solo act for many years. My new self-titled cd contains 8 original songs either written or co-written by me, and two covers that just kind of found their own way onto the project.
The first song on the cd, "Just Like A Fool", is just another "good love gone bad" song, but it comes from a personal experience and had to be done.
"Hollywood Killed the King" is the result of a conversation I had a few years ago with the older brother of a good friend of mine. He was telling me what an incredible performer Elvis was before he started making all of those goofy movies.
At one of my solo gigs I used to play, the stage had a very nice view of the Destin(Florida)East Pass. This is the beautiful strip of emerald green and blue water surrounded by white sand that connects the Gulf of Mexico to the Choctawhatchee bay. As the sun was setting in the middle of a set one day the idea for a song called "East Pass Sunset" came to me.
"Call It Love" is a song I wrote about a girl who came into my life a long time ago, who I instantly fell in love with, and whom I never got anywhere with.
"It''s Always Been You" was an idea that longtime friend Tim Jackson had that he and I hammered out in another late-night writing session. The tenor sax on this song was played by Michael "Ike" Bartley, one of my favorite local musicians.
"I Don''t Remember" (why we said goodbye) was co-written by Tom Devoursney who also played the finger picked acoustic guitar track. Jonathan Grooms played the bass track.
"Maybe We''ll Understand" questions the meaning of life, and is a great vehicle for Ike''s soprano sax work which is one of my favorite things on the cd.
"Princess Beach" is the place Theresa (the love of my life) and I like to go for walks at night- especially when the moon is full. My friend Kim Hughes contributed to the background vocals.
This brings us to the two cover songs. I put down instrumental tracks for "You''ve Really Got A Hold On Me" for someone else to sing, but I liked the way they turned out so much that I decided to include it here.
I always wanted to do a sort of reggae version of JT''s "Capt Jim''s Drunken Dream" and saw this project as the perfect opportunity. The lyrics are so great to me. Kim Hughes again added to the background vocal choir.
The cd is printed with a black and white photo of me at age four in a cowboy hat holding a guitar and striking somewhat of an Elvis pose. The back cover is a photo of an "east pass sunset". The front cover is a photo taken by Theresa here in Fort Walton Beach, Fl. I sincerely appreciate your taking the time to read this, and I hope you will listen to, and that you enjoy the audio clips.

Thank You,
Alan Boone
