Details:
The Apollo Effect reflects an influence of 80''s pop and modern British rock. Their considerable song writing talents produce a focused, powerful rock and roll sound with a strong emphasis on melody. Equally at home in a small club or a large theatre, their energetic live show has been winning over crowds and the band has cultivated a rapidly growing fan base on the strength of their live show and their debut, 7 song EP.

Officially formed in 2005, The Apollo Effect''s roots can be traced back to the spring of 2001 when singer/songwriter Brent Lunney met drummer Gerry Madden and the powerful bonds of a musical brotherhood were formed. The next four years were spent crafting a base for their unique style of rock and roll and seeking out the additional members who would help build their collective musical vision. Multi-instrumentalist Dennis Hahn joined the band in the early spring of 2005 followed shortly afterwards by guitarist Ian Chesal. The addition of bassist Ben Legge in the fall of 2005 completed the search and the band quickly dove into honing their considerable catalogue and selecting tracks for their debut EP.

In January 2006, word of their music and energetic live show brought The Apollo Effect to the attention of veteran Canadian producer Virgil Scott. With Virgil on board production on the EP began in earnest. Owned and operated by Canadian Idol musical director, Mark Lalama, the Sumbler Estate Studios in the heart of the Niagara Wine Region proved to be the perfect creative environment for capturing the energy and the sonic textures The Apollo Effect had perfected with their live shows. Additional tracking, mixing and mastering were performed by Danny Sustar at the late Domenic Troiano''s Round Sound Studios in Concord, ON. The Apollo Effect''s debut EP crosses multiple genres but never loses its focus. Producer Virgil Scott has harnessed the energy of The Apollo Effect''s live show and helped the band deliver a multi-dimensional musical experience.

In recent months the band has been busy touring Ontario, filling to capacity venues such as Jeff Healey''s and producing sold-out special guest evenings with other Indie music luminaries like Stephen Stanely from Lowest of the Low. Thousands were in attendance at their stellar 2006 Canada Day performance in Ottawa, ON. Independent sales of their EP continue to climb and their tour schedule for the remainder of 2006 is quickly filling up.
