Amy''s pure and persuasive voice alone would be enough to impress, but she''s also a brilliant and soul revealing songwriter and a compelling performer. Amy wrote most all of the material for her latest CD Sparkle which was produced by her husband, Dan Monaghan. Sparkle with its stunning vocals, hook per track grab, and polished production will be the vehicle that propels Amy to a world wide audience. There are three definitions of the word Sparkle; shine, excel, and life, again Amy encompasses all three. MUSIC is a river that has flowed through Amy''s life since the beginning. She was born into a musical family in Dayton, Ohio and raised in a small town in Minnesota. Both of her parents are pastors and she is the youngest of five singing siblings. Amy revealed a talent for performing early on, she recalls her very first show," I was a little peanut with no front teeth. I sang for my grandparents as I hid behind a big chair. By the time my teeth finally grew in, I was fearlessly singing for hundreds of people as Gretl, the littlest girl in The Sound of Music". Like the musical Von Trapp family, Amy''s family traveled with her parents ministry all over the U.S. and beyond, wherever they went Amy sang and she never stopped singing. Fed by faith and filled with Amys deep rooted talent, the musical river flows on. YEARS of experience on stage and in the studio provided Amy with all the abilities needed to become a major artist. Throughout her teens and early twenties Amy continued to develop her vocal style, songwriting craft, and piano playing, she then joined Big Big Fish and co-wrote Light of Your Love a number one single which received extensive air play on Christian radio. While recording with the band, Amys extraordinary voice and her finesse for arranging background vocals was recognized by widely respected producer Tedd T. (Jewel, Faith Hill, Rebecca St. James, Mute Math, Stacy Orrico, Andy Hunter, News Boys, SHeDAISY, Margaret Becker, Jump5, etc.) and Amy became Tedd''s first call vocalist on several projects (Tammy Trent, D.O.C., Verses, etc.) Another momentous event was about to transpire for Amy, she explains her first meeting with her future husband, guitarist Dan Monaghan; "There was a local band tournament and I was the lead singer of a pop band and Dan played guitar in a rock band. His band knocked us out of the competition with their incredible, tight sound. Unfair! But I married him anyway." Amy smiles because she knows how fortunate she is that she found both her soul mate and song mate. Dan is multitalented as well, and played guitar, bass, keyboards, co-wrote two songs and produced, mixed, and mastered Amy''s latest CD Sparkle. MESSIAH is the message in the middle of Amy''s music. With grace and sensitivity her songs subtlety unlock hidden space in the heart and stir the unspoken depth of the soul. Amy questions and reasons with wisdom and veracity the tests, trials, and rewards of faith and the all too human challenges of living a constant life in Christ. Her sound could be defined as pop, alternative rock or contemporary Christian, but no matter what shape her songs take, the essence of them is trueness and that is the essence of Amy. When asked what inspires her musically Amy answered, "Every once in a while there will be a song that completely disarms me. It could be the lyrics, sometimes the melody, but mostly the intangible something behind the song or artist". Though she''s describing what moves her in an artist, she''s unconsciously describing herself; Amy''s music completely disarms the listener and that intangible something that she speaks of, and possesses is God given talent. Talent like this can move the earth, and Amy M might move heaven as well.
