Dave King returns with a brand new CD containing two great songs - ''Pretty Kitty'' and ''Too Much Time''.
The CD is being released in the style of old 45 RPM records (if you’re old enough to remember them!). The first song, ''Pretty Kitty'' is an upbeat fun tune with a jazzy feel that clocks in at a radio-friendly length of 3:30. If this were a 45 RPM record, ''Pretty Kitty'' would be on the A-Side. The second song on the CD, ''Too Much Time'' is a slow and moody piece – appropriate for the B-Side.
Both songs were recorded at The Studio Upstairs located in Connecticut, USA. Dave says, “''Pretty Kitty'' is one of those songs that seemed to write itself. The music and lyrics came about very quickly and naturally.” Musically, it is similar in style to the song, ''Moondance'' by Van Morrison. It’ll get your feet tappin'' and your fingers snappin''.
The recording of the second song on the CD, ''Too Much Time'' was a bit of an experiment. If it sounds similar to Beck’s song ''The Golden Age'', there’s a good reason why. As an experiment, Dave attempted to emulate the style and mood of Beck’s song. However, Dave used his own music, lyrics and recording techniques. Dave says, “I really liked the mood and feel Beck was able to capture throughout his CD ''Sea Change'' which included the song ''The Golden Age''. I think ''Too Much Time'' comes very close to capturing that same mood, yet it still sounds like me."
Since the CD contains only two songs, it is available at the low, low price of only $5.00. What a deal. Great music at a great price!
