Ivalani performs music with a rare combination of sheer skill and the ability to speak to many audiences. Ivalani''s rich soprano voice spans many stages from opera to pop music and speaks truth to the soul. Ivalani was born to sing.

Ivalani has performed leading roles in opera, oratorio, and musical theater. Her debut album "Give Me Jesus, Aku ''a Sisu" was a personal journey for Ivalani.

"I asked myself, ''Of all the music in the world, if I could record only one CD, what would I sing?'' This album is the answer. This music is a celebration of my roots as a Tongan, an American, a believer of Jesus, and a singer. It is good music performed with good friends about all of the things that make me who I am. It is challenging to sing but easy to understand. And most of all, it comes from my soul. It reminds people that no matter where they are or what they''re doing, life just feels better when God is a part of it."

Ivalani is a classically trained singer who began studying as a young child. Ivalani credits her mother for encouraging her to pursue singing.

"Ever since I can remember, my mother told me what a beautiful voice I had and I believed her. My parents provided for nine children but always made my singing a priority. I had the privilege of participating in choirs and plays and private lessons from a young age. My siblings joke that I got all of the music talent genes, although I know it''s not true. I remind them, however, of all the years I endured my taunting brothers who said my voice sounded like a ''dying cow'' (which it probably did). After surviving them, I know I can sing just about anywhere." :-)

Ivalani attended Brigham Young University Hawaii and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Studies. Ivalani has a profound sense of gratitude for the time she spent there.

"The music faculty at BYU-Hawaii opened my mind to love music of all kinds and stretched my abilities to their fullest. I always knew that studying music was the right thing for me and the support I felt at BYU-Hawaii to pursue my dream was tangible. They gave me the opportunity to influence international audiences for good. They taught me how to be a true singer of all music."

In addition to being a very talented performer, Ivalani loves to teach. After graduation from BYU-Hawaii, Ivalani spent the following five years studying vocal pedagogy and performance with renowned teacher Betty Jeanne Chipman.

"I learned the science of freeing the voice. It is a great moment when a singer can communicate what she feels in music. It is thrilling for me to guide other singers through this discovery!"

Ivalani balances singing with family responsibilities but to her, there has never been a distinction between the two.

"I had a director once who made a comment that I was returning to the stage after ''doing the mom thing'' and the comment has never made sense to me. I have always been a singer and will always be a mom. I am both all of the time. My kids run around the house singing melismas from Handel''s Messiah and it''s great! The biggest compliment I ever received was from my son who said, ''Mom, when I leave home, the thing I will miss the most is all the singing.'' "

Ivalani is thrilled with her debut album "Give Me Jesus Aku ''a Sisu" and is excited to share herself with audiences of many tastes.
