Disc 1 Heaven: Joined by guest organist David Higgs, SFGC performs sacred music both accompanied and a cappella, including two mini-masterworks: Benjamin Britten’s Missa Brevis in D and Francis Poulenc’s Litanies à la vierge noire.
Disc 2 Earth: Centered around three new commissions by Gabriela Lena Frank, Augusta Read Thomas and Dwight Okamura, this disc expands SFGC’s musical, technical and stylistic boundaries in expressing human sorrow, joy, humor, and hope in song.
