Kim Martinique started singing popular music (Janis Joplin, etc.) back in Jr. High and Highschool.
She took a 20 year break when she could''nt find a guitarist who would do the music she really wanted to do, i.e. Joni Mitchell, Phoebe Snow, Janis Ian, Melanie and others.
Kim and Robert have been making music together since 1991.
"I think Robert has learned every song I have ever asked him to - it''s amazing and he keeps them all in his head! We''ve written so many songs together, I''m just glad I found someone who likes the same music as I do." Robert Folsom has played electric guitar in a variety of bands. He is a long-time musician and journalist. He now plays acoustic guitar with a style that he has developed playing with K''sapa.
Robert collaborates with Kim by providing all of the guitar parts. They have been known to say that, "Sometimes a song comes from Robert and sometimes it starts from Kim".
Gary Schroeder has played in Kansas City as a jazz drummer for over 10 years but has lately loved playing a variety of percussion instruments with K''sapa as well as other Kansas City Urban Folk musicians. He likes to play 3 or 4 things at once, if possible and likes to clown around a lot! We had a lot of fun with this CD.
There are 2 blues tunes as well as many other great new K''sapa tunes!
