The DooWhopBoiz are a diverse vocal group. This quartet offers a raw blend of voices that have been known to penetrate the souls of those who witness this gift from God. Combined they embody all the necessary ingredients needed to legitimize their sound. Deep Soul, Blues, and Gospel along with some heartache, pain, adversities, and good times help them to project the emotion out there mouths into your souls.
The DooWhopBoiz are a Decatur/Ellenwood Ga. based vocal harmony group. They originated out of Cedar Grove High School under the direction of the chorus instructor Mr. Fred King. Recognizing their talent the young men were grouped together for a Black History Month concert. Mr King created the name “Doo Wop Boys” and after a successful performance the DooWhopBoiz were born. The following summer one of the fathers of the DooWhopBoiz decided that the group had the talent to continue and even start doing shows. The group’s popularity grew tremendously and they are in demand all over Georgia .
The Original Members are: Jalil Harris, Rodrique Roberts, Akins Akin, and Jarrett Williams. The group later added Christian Reynolds. Member Jarrett Williams was replaced by Desi Raines. Akins Akin later was released from the group. Just like famous groups of the past there have been some early adversities and some realignment and they are now a solid group.
The group begin performing at venues like sweet sixteen parties, family reunions, youth church events, and during the Christmas holidays they sang Christmas Carols door to door. They have the ability to cater to all audience from 50s classics; Motown, Gospel, Soul and R&B. The DooWhopBoiz took part in a concert for Hands On Atlanta opening for John Legend and Patti Labelle. Truly the highlight of there young careers and all the inspiration they needed to carry on. Back stage that night they had the opportunity to sing for Patti Labelle and brought her to tears with there delivery of a gospel selection call “Cry On”. They will have that effect on you too. The group later open for Rickey Smiley and Fantasia at the Atlanta Civic Center. When there set was over the crowd applauded and began chanting DooWhop DooWhop! Since those early days the DooWhopBoiz have since been put through extensive artist development under the tutuledge of Mr. Mecia Robinson at J-Pat Records. The DooWhopBoiz headlined a successful showcase promoted by Fox Entertainment along with other local talent in July 2009. The DooWhopBoiz in summer of 2009 wrote and recorded the theme music for the Atlanta Falcon called “We Are Atlanta” which is on sale at areaTarget Stores and being played at all Falcons home games.
