Kama Shivaya - A troupe of belly dancers clad in colorfully exotic attire dance into Caterina Winery, covered in tattoos, and speckles of musical jewelry. Throughout the night these women balance swords and plates and glasses of water on their heads while gracefully spinning and gliding to a live band, which is playing a hypnotic trance-hop instrumental that sounds like Portishead mixed with the Wu-Tang Clan. During intermission a lone dancer spins a flaming baton and hoola hoop on the patio. During the finale the standing-room only crowd is hollering and clapping in time. The Koreshakti belly dancers and music group Kama Shivaya have proven at consistently sold-out shows at Caterina Winery, that this Spokane multi-cultural performing arts collective is the real deal. Koreshakti with Kama Shivaya makes its third event at Caterina and back-to-back night patio party on Thursday, July 9 and Friday July 10 at 8 p.m. at Caterina Winery, 905 N. Washington St. Cost: $10; all ages welcome.

Shake Your Belly Feather!
My jaw hasn''t dropped like it did tonight in a long time. I, probably like most of the audience was blown away by these women. They had strength, power, beauty, and sex appeal creating a night full of entertaining "jaw-dropping" dancing. With twenty different dances and over ten different women from ballet to belly dancing, it was full of variety. Watching these ladies move their bodies was mesmerizing.
You would think well where is the music in belly dancing? When really music is a big part of the girls’ dancing. The music showcased how with each beat they could move a different muscle in their body creating a very strong & sexy dance. The Caterina stage was turned into a jungle with lots of green plants, lights, and leaves. The Kama Shivaya music was perfect for the dancers. I was told that a lot of the music was created especially for one girl and one dance.
