This album was created from the ground up by this aspiring singer/songwriter (Greg Elie) who developed his craft in music later in life. Was called the worst student by his piano teacher when he was twelve years old, Greg carried this psychological scar all his life. It wasn''t until he was in his thirties that he realized the reason for his failure in trying to learn to play the piano, he was the only one who did not own a piano or even a cheap keyboard which could help him practice his piano lessons during the week. And this was because of poverty when he was growing up in the Philippines, his parents could not afford to buy him even a cheap keyboard to practice with. It wasn''t until after he finished serving in the US Navy and finishing college at twenty-seven years of age that a burning desire to take up the challenge of trying to play the piano crept up in his heart. After one semester of piano lessons in a local community college, he joined a church choir where he and fellow members learned how to play chords in the piano. Still unable to read and write musical notes, his newly learned skill in playing chords enhanced his ability in creating his own songs. When his church choir organized a band, he was relegated to being the back-up pianist since they had a better keyboardist than him. But with his newly acquired passion in playing musical instruments, he decided to learn to play the guitar through self-study. Unfortunately, the choir acquired a new member who was a really good guitar player as he ended up getting bumped off the band again. Not wanting to give up, he bought a bass guitar and started learning how to play. After a few months, another musician joined the choir that was a good bass guitar player. Once again giving up his position, he bought a drum set and did another self study. And just like the other times, the choir found a really good drummer and Greg was once again bumped off the band and was relegated to singing with the choir. The blessing in disguise was that whenever a musician would call in sick or be off on vacation during Sunday services, he was able to step in as the back-up musician. In the next ten to fifteen years Greg was finally able to be that, "Jack of all trades but master of none", in music. This helped him arrange music for his own original songs which he attributes as a gift from God.
The main message he would like to impart to all his listeners are: 1. That anything is possible through God. 2. It''s never too late to learn a musical instrument if you persevere and practice regularly. 3. Never give up even if others call you talentless or a loser in life and lastly, 4. When doors in life closes, don''t be discouraged. Usually another door opens up, just look and wait for another opportunity. Thank you and may God bless you.
