"Stars" is a different sort of album. It has no lyrics, yet its music tells grand stories. It has but one sole piano as its instrumentation, but it feels like an orchestra. It was totally improvised on the spot, but you would probably never know without knowing beforehand.
The first few tracks were originally recorded in June 2009 by Zac James at Living Rock Family Outreach, as a way of training to use recording equipment, but as the summer continued, the project grew into an EP, and then finally in mid-August, the album which is now known as "Stars" was completed.
"Stars" was born from Zac''s ongoing love of piano improvisation, the profound effect great music continues to have on him and his desire to share that feeling with others. As he puts it, "The album is very self-medicating at times, because the music itself is very much an extension of who I am and what I love about music, life and the stories therein. I really believe that epic stories are being told through the music, without using any words."
From the tension of "Epic" to the satisfaction of "Resolution", the sadness of "Sorrow (May There Be No More)" to the quiet rest of "Tis Quiet While The Spring Rain Falls", and everywhere in between,"Stars" stands apart in its uniqueness, its quality and its beauty.
"It is my hope," Zac says, "that you would simply enjoy this extension of myself, my heart and sincere love for you, dear listener. I am grateful to all who listen, and I hope you are moved as much as I have been."
