“The Tired E.P.” comes off more like a vignette for Tomorrows Tulips than a debut. Three tracks that simplistically showcase the group’s love for lo- fi recordings, extensive vamping, experimentation and dream like melodies.
“Tired” is the two chord conceptual drone, fuzzy with loop like layers of melody and guitar that recall a perfect prescription, the primitive drums carry the euphoric haze while the lazy narrative keeps dragging it along in monotone.
“Casual Hopelessness” offers a sort of confession to the pop world, along for the ride to the endless party ironically shouting “will it ever work from this view on the couch.” An anthem that at times feels weak as a demo and as sarcastic as everyone the song is about. The Tired E.P. was recorded December 2009 by Mike Mchugh at the distillery studio in Costa mesa California.
