In October of 2009, Hands Off Productions asked the pop-rock band, Coveted Green, to record music for a film they would enter in an upcoming National Film Challenge. As part of the challenge, Coveted Green only had 72 hours to write, record, mix and master the music - and they wouldn’t even know what kind of film it would be until the clock started ticking.
It was 7:00 Friday night, October 23, when Coveted Green learned the genre of the film: horror. They sat in with Hands Off Productions while they feverishly brainstormed plot ideas. And based on the ideas they were hearing, Coveted Green would have to stretch beyond their pop-rock comfort zone to write a heavy-hitting metal song for the film. So they spent the rest of the evening writing music to fit the story, while Hands Off Productions started writing the script.
Saturday, October 24, in a race against the clock, Coveted Green spent the day at Fishtank Audio recording “Deja Vu” - a song they wrote just the night before. By the next day, they had completed a mix with enough time to write “All Over Again”, an eerie instrumental to set the mood for the film. Together the songs make up Music From the Short Film “Threshold”.
On Monday, October 26, Hands Off Productions completed “Threshold”, a short film about a broken man fighting to protect his family from dark forces circling just outside his home. Watch the film at https://www.tradebit.com
