South African recording artist, Candis Angelene is a soprano that will startle you with her fresh, ethereal sound. Ancient light is the singer''s first release, and is a classical crossover album featuring original music by Mark Cheyne with lyrics written by Candis Angelene. It takes the listener on a journey from the epic to the intimate, through shades of light and dark, whilst being transported to other worlds.

Teaming up with music producer Mark Cheyne, the beginnings of Ancient Light were brought to life, as the broad strokes of music and lyrics were being outworked in her Johannesburg studio. What has been birthed in 2009, is a culmination of years of work and inspiration by this creative partnership. A work that longs to touch the lives of people from all walks of life.
Candis Angelene discovered her ability to sing at age five, and, encouraged by her teachers, the young girl went on to excel at singing throughout her schooling. After studying drama, she began working in musical theatre, performing in shows such as The Wizard of Oz, Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph. The magic and thrill of doing live shows fuelled her dream and inspired her vision to create unforgettable moments through music.
