The Music on this CD is presented as it is played at the service.
There are no overdubbed tracks, or full blown productions. Having played on albums that were embellished in this manner, I have felt the frustration of vast differences between live show limitations and studio magic through the use of hired guns adding string sections, horns and more. I chose not to give into those temptations, but to be delivered from the evil of self aggrandizement, and humbly put out a new song and sound. It is truly spirit driven, with love from the heart.
What you hear is what you get when you come.
There are three original songs. Two of which are my own, and one''s lyrics was written by my dear friend Ron Rasmussen. Ron was injured in a motorcycle accident as a young man and suffered major brain damage that changed the course of his life. There was such a vast difference between the simple, sweet man I''ve seen at church on Sundays and his writing that it was perplexing for me to fathom the intelligence trapped within him. He brought his "poem" to me and asked if I could put it to music. I dismally said I''d try but couldn''t promise anything.
So, I took them home and read them in slight disbelief and felt that the spirit had inspired him to write what I perceived to be his best yet. But, I felt initially that it was beyond a challenge, entering into the realm of impossibilities, for me to find a musical fit for his poem.
After several readings, with my guitar in hand, the melody gushed from me as if the same spirit touched me as well, as if to fulfill the righting of an eternal wrong, or injustice. It is out of love that his Song of Delight and Praise , became the driving force in producing this sampler album as a fund raiser for our financially struggling church.
Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church was recently recognized and received a Congressional award for its outreach in our plight stricken community. Yet, amidst it all the treasurer can not meet the salaries and utilities obligation in most months.
So...we seek first the kingdom of heaven, and hope that all else will fall into place; in his hands.
