It all started -
When I ran into an old friend on the golf course. I looked up and there he was. Frank Caruso. Hadn''t seen Frank since back in the day. Hooked up a week later for more golf and coffee and asked Frank if he would be interested in doing this project with me. Frank Caruso is without a doubt the go to keyboard player here in Chicago. His credits include Henri Mancini, Louie Bellson, Herbi Hancock, Billy Joel, Maynard Ferguson, just to name a few.
I then heard about Cheryl Wilson and decided to catch her in concert. I was totally blown away! Cheryl''s credits include Michael Jackson, Bill Withers, Peobo Bryson, Marvis Staples, Celine Dion, John Martyn, Diana Ross, Phil Collins, Smokey Robinson and many others.
While jamming in Nashville last summer, someone told me about this jam on the South Side of Chicago. Decided to check it out. Turns out there was this guitar player that absolutely blew the roof off this South Side blues club. this is where I met Marty "The Kid" MacMillan. Marty is 26 years old and has just moved to Chicago from Detroit. Bobby "Too Tuff" and "Bad Boy" Floyd were in the house that night. We all had a great time.
Then there''s my long time friend and drummer Gary Maier. Gary and I have been playing for years. Gary has backed up KoKo Taylor, Jim Belushi, Tommy McCracken, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Lonnie Brooks and others.
Back in the day my mentor was Barry Goldberg. I played in Barry''s Blues Band back in the 60s. Traveled to Los Angeles with Barry to record an album and play some gigs. I then hooked up With Charlie Allen, the lead singer with Pacific Gas & Electric and joined the band. Recorded 3 albums with Charlie and eventually went on the "Are You Ready" tour. I''ve also played with Duane Allman, Steve Miller, Michael Bloomfield, Buddy Miles, William Russo and others. More recently I was on Quentin Tarantino''s soundtrack for the movie "Death Proof."
This mix of Rock, Blues and Jazz is an interesting new sound. While I think you will enjoy the music, you should know these are quality personalities and sweet people as well.
