Details:
Derek Brown became D.B. on the rough streets of North Gulfport Ms. He grew up as does many kids in ghettos across the country and the world grow up in poverty. He was raised up in his grandmother Loretta''s three bedroom house with his mother, brothers, and sister and a couple of uncles and cousins that resided there. He often jokes about there being a whole family tree in that house. Times were hard but sugar water and cereal, mayonnaise sandwiches, and eggs and rice were https://www.tradebit.com suffered many mental scars as a child from problems with his father and other family https://www.tradebit.com began hanging out with the wrong crowd or as he puts it the hustlers he looked up to from around the way. D.B. was eventually kicked out of school two years straight because of his fighting and truancy. He seen his grandmother and mom struggle to keep food on the table so he started slangin drugs. He eventually came up big on the streets of Monroe and Ohio ave. where he served fiends. His mom found out he was slangin dope and he was kicked out the house. D.B. feeling he had nothing to lose and nowhere to go got deeper in the game. He was slanging drugs, fighting, and getting stoned everyday. The turning point for D.B. was when over the course of several months he lost many people that he loved. He lost his grandfather Matthew, aunt Jacque, and many more relatives and friends. He got to a point where he was like who''s next? He says that he knows that nothing is promised and no one lives forever but he prayed that his loved ones would stop dying. Around the same time he was going through his losses he was arrested for possession. He was locked up and did a short bid. When he was released from prison he decided to give up the street hustling and to hustle in this music game. He started putting his anger on paper writing lyrics about life and the struggles we face going through it. He eventually signed with a popular local record label called Chita-Trillogy Entertainment. He formed a group called Agansta Grain with some guys he knew from the area. They appeared on a compilation that gave them local and some regional success but no major attention. D.B. had much bigger aspirations and decided to go solo. He enjoyed the group situation but he knew that his flow and content of his music stood out from his other group members. So now he presents to the world his first solo project called (Scars Heal In Due Time). He states, that the title itself gave him a sense of liberation both as an artist and personally. His hope is that it will also liberate others who have faced scars going through everyday life struggles. His wish is that it helps them see brighter days. He says that oh yes they do come but we need the patience to wait and see the sunrays come through the clouds. He is truly as he is known on the gulf coast of Miss. "The Ghetto Picasso". He is called that because he paints vivid pictures through his words. This cd is about real situations and true struggles that we all can relate to. This cd is just not all about pain and loss because there is also good things that occur in the hood. There are songs about partying, having a good time, dancing and hanging out with friends and of course clubbing. This cd has a good mix of everything the truth, joy and pain, trials and tribulations, defeat and finally triumph. If you like to hear music with a meaning from someone who has true to life stories to tell then this cd will win you over I promise you won''t be dissappointed. C. Taylor
