The main difference here, is that So Long (to the child), is a more intimate and acoustic affair, with Raj’s soft voice sounding like he is whispering directly in your ear, especially on standout tracks such as “a matter of time” and “sachin’s blues #1”. So Long (to the child), was written, produced, and performed by Sachin Raj and features only his voice, a lightly finger picked acoustic guitar and an occasional xylophone and harmonica. Raj creates intimate and emotional songs with a strong indie folk rock influence. The main comparisons here are Elliott Smith, Neil Young, and Simon and Garfunkel as they share the same roots and style. Although, there is definitely something unique and original sounding here, mostly due to Raj’s ability to manipulate emotion with great conviction and skill. Sun Rise is a strong opener, with a simple and convincing melody that will have most listeners humming along by the start of the second verse. Every song that follows is just as memorable. “Final page” has descending chord movements alongside acoustic Beatles numbers and “Fuji from a Plane” is a chilling original classical guitar sounding track that ends the record with a perfectly toned harmonic.
