Jim & Marilee met at the Istachatta General Store Friday Night Fish Fry where Marilee was singing with friends. They fell in love, married and still live in the little town of Istachatta, Florida. They, along with many other talented local musicians, played outside the Istachatta General Store for over 6 years thrilling audiences from central Florida each Friday night with Jim''s unique country folk sound of his original songs textured by Marilee''s simple harmonies! And, contrary to popular opinion - Jim did NOT compose "Right Thru'' the Red Light" for Marilee!
The song "Jesus'' Birthday" began as an answer to advertisers & those politically IN-correct folks trying to take CHRIST out of Christmas! Jim says if the song offends anyone - they should just "get over it or write their own song! Christ is STILL the Reason for the Season and Christmas STILL celebrates the Birthday of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ!" The words came to Jim in about 10 minutes, and, while he usually writes the music as well - this time he passed the words to Marilee. This song is a gift from the Holy Spirit as the tune that is recorded here is the same as that first moment it was written down!
"Thinking in Circles" is a line that Jim''s mom, Martha Lee Jinright, gave to Jim about an old song she had written. She just couldn''t remember the words, she said. So he wrote her some new words and added the tune as well. "A Woman Scorned" and "Heart Full of Tears" were written, Jim says, about real people who felt compelled to tell him their life stories! Jim wants those wonderful folks and their special heartaches to be remembered.
