Press Reviews & Clips: “Mod Fun - one of the best, though least-heralded, members of the mid-''80s East Coast garage revival that also produced The Fleshtones, The Fuzztones, The Vipers and The Chesterfield Kings… exuberant R&B-laced early Who mod jams to delightfully trippy, psychedelic pop, mirroring the journey taken by the band''s heroes, English cult legends The Creation.”
-- Chicago Sun Times

“It’s all in the songs, you know. It always is. That’s why The Pixies could come back and Mission of Burma and even the Pistols; because all those bands had songs. And so does Mod Fun. The stuff still jumps!”
-- JerseyBeat

“This is high energy psychedelic/garage music for the roots oriented... their sound possesses a retro yet contemporary feel... elements of the british invasion (KINKS) as well as punk (BUZZCOCKS)... if you can sit still to their music, you must be dead!".”
-- The Rag

“Groovy, baby!”

“FUTUREPRESENT” – The Brand New 15 Song CD From Mod Fun

The most recent offering from New Jersey’s avatars of psych-pop features 15 all-new cuts, recorded throughout 2009 in the band’s DAMN! Studios, located in Ocean Grove, NJ. Building on their recent 20-song double album (2007’s “Now…and Again”) this new release both refines and focuses the band’s style of tight, crisp, garage and psych influenced “retro-fied” pop music.

As with 90% of their recorded efforts to date, “Futurepresent” finds the band in full “DIY mode” – engineering, mixing, producing and mastering their own material from start to finish. The results speak for themselves: 60’s pop-influence–meets current-day production on tracks like “Give” (which is the bands current “video-single” on YouTube,) and “Tale of Two Faces”... to post-punk hi-energy on “Who Do you Think You Are” and “Titanic.” The album ends on a high note too, with “The Jettison”, a melodic Beatle-esque track with just the type of dense orchestrated production one might expect in an homage to the latter day Fab Four.

Since their inception well over two decades ago, MOD FUN have epitomized the “DIY” spirit – releasing their first 45 RPM single while still in high school and then taking to the road for a month, playing shows up & down the west coast. Upon reforming in 2004 for a “one-off” 20th anniversary reunion gig in Asbury Park, MOD FUN hasn’t let-up... appearing on half a dozen compilation CDs, releasing a 20 track CD, and gigging in cities all over the U.S. such as Chicago, Nashville, Baltimore, Annapolis, and New York, as well as performing many shows throughout their native New Jersey.
