“Memoirs Volume 1: The Restoration” is a living music testimony of how Jesus Christ changed the heart of hip-hop lover B-Rob. This eleven song work creates a space for B-Rob to take his audience through a monumental experience of a soul being restored by messing radio and family friendly production with catchy, witty, though out lyrics.
The horn laden first song, “Wait of the World”, plays on the words wait and weight as B-Rob claims, “with trumpets blarrin’, the drummers drummin’/ I come to bring you the news that Jesus Christ is comin’/Wait, I’m not taking a break/ there’s no breaks in your stride when you walk by faith,” to later on proclaiming, “…weight, with the e.i.g.h./ that puts the stress on ya bones, what ya muscles embrace/ what Christians face in that day to day race/ it gets us sore for the moment, but stronger for our opponents”
Other memorable lines include “you don’t need your I-phone/ when you are called home/ and when you face his book, you’ll know that my space is on/ the side of his throne….”, from the song “I know”.
B-Rob used The Restoration to tell stories of faith (“Come Too Far” and “Survive”), express how a man should love his wife through the eyes of the Lord (“Wife”), proclaim that its ok for Christians to dance (“D.T.T.W.”) , and gives advice on walking in the word (“Cross ‘Round My Neck”, “Glory Be”). “Love and Rock” enables B-Rob to speak to the youth and those who may not look like “traditional Christians” over a heavy 808 bass drum and thick guitar riffs, while “Use Me” finds B-Rob asking to be used for Gods service.
Many find it hard to sit still while listening to B-Rob serve the Lord over neck-snapping beats.
The Restoration is well rounded for those who love Jesus, Hip-Hop, Pop Music, or all three.
