The cembalo…. This extraordinary musical string percussion instrument is encountered at various peoples under different names, beginning with the 16th century and soon became the favourite instrument of the Hungarian bards. And it is not by chance that in the second part of the 19th century, it was Joszef von Schunda, a Hungarian, who improved this instrument. He enlarged its diapason and found an adequate way of tuning and pedaling, and thus, enabling its unique technical performance possibilities, turning the cembalo into a grand instrument for concerts. This invention stimulated the appearance of valuable instrumentalists in many countries of the world, who besides the traditional music also performed pieces of the universal music.
Born in 1980, on December 7, Alexander, a precocious talent, started studying piano at the music school “V. Poleacov”, two years later being accepted at the “Ciprian Porumbescu” Music High-School, in the cembalo class of Prof. I. Grosu, and then in the class of Prof. V. Luta. He studied at the State University of Art, the cembalo class of Ph.D. candidate V. Sirbu and https://www.tradebit.comaciun – a good choice. The level of performance achieved by the young musician, during a relatively short time, is simply to be envied. From the age of 12 years, he won many valuable awards at various national and international contests. Among these – the 1st Prize at the International Festival of Traditional Music ‘Constantin Brailoiu’ (Brashov, Romania, 1995), Golden Medal at the 1st Delphic Games (Moscow, Russia, 2000) – a total of 7 1st prizes at 7 contests. At the same age, he began performing with the most prestigious professional orchestras of the Republic of Moldova such as the ensembles of traditional dance music “JOC” and “LAUTARII”. Alexander had solo recitals at the halls of National Philharmonic and Organ Hall of Moldova, as well as Romania, Austria, Russia, Germany, Belarus, Israel, France, Spain, Switzerland and others. He masters an impetuous technique of performing and a rare sound of finesse, putting his heart and soul in everything that he does, and still controlling his emotions to be in full concordance with the musical message to be delivered to the audience. He is always colorable and convincing, conquering the audience with expressiveness, profoundness of the artistic idea, manner of performance, characteristic to the great performers. His repertoire is rich and various, including traditional, folk, pre-classical and classical music up to the creations of the composers of the 20th century.
This CD represents a collection of the most outstanding works created by the well-known composers of the music world, in transcript for cembalo and performed by Alexander Shura. He invites you to share with him the happiness of grasping the inner significance of the marvelous and divine miracle – Her Majesty, The Music.
