MP3 Antioquia - My piano ate the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle

Based on a true story, this fine collection of 15 songs is a feast of sound - with polyrhythm, vocal harmony and aural dissonance in all the right places. Hints of Mahavishnu tucked into ''world'' rhythm inspired funk-pop-rock? Bon appetit.

15 MP3 Songs in this album (66:00) !
Related styles: Rock: Post-Rock/Experimental, World: World Beat, Type: Political

Details:
With roots in their namesake, Antioquia, Colombia, and strong interests in traditional West African music and the experimental funk-rock of Primus and the Talking Heads, their sound exhibits a peculiar, somewhat pungent flavor. According to Jambase Associate Editor Dennis Cook, Antioquia is "vast, rangy and honestly punky," and "a real find" while Adam Leech of the Colorado Springs Independent affirms that "wherever Antioquia is playing is most definitely the place to be."

My Piano, the group''s second independent recording reveals a more mature and focused Antioquia and a voice that is unmistakeably their own. Recorded in less than a week with good friend and talented engineer Dion Decibels at Project West Studio in Berkeley, California, and mastered by Mike Wells, the album exhibits Antioquia at its rawest and most confident, playing and singing with conviction. Thematically, the album explores the alienating effects of today''s mass media machine presented with poetic lyrics accompanied by sometimes aggressive, sometimes pensive, always expressive instrumentation.

For the album artwork enthusiast:
The music of My Piano comes packaged beautifully... With cover artwork by Tobias Greene (https://www.tradebit.com) is printed using an old-fashioned letterpress (by F Street Letterpress in Bozeman, MT) on 100% post-consumer recycled waste package (manufactured by Stumptown Printers in Portland, OR) and then hand-assembled without the use of adhesives by Antioquia and their loyal elves. The first 100 prints have a unique letterpress number from 001-100.
