I wrote my first song at age nine called "On a Train" which reflects my earliest influence, Johnny Cash. I''d watch his TV show every week and study how he performed. It wasn''t long before my two brothers and I started a band. I continued to write songs and some years later formed a country band called Sundance with a friend and played all over the state. In 1984, I made an unsuccessful trip to Nashville to pitch my songs and later performed with a 50''s band as well as doing a solo act performing country and pop.
In 1994, I went to Texas to record a 4-song CD on Modern Day Artist records. "Go Make Your Way" was later released nationally. It reached #20 on the independent record charts. Unfortunately, it was a small record label and we didn''t have the backing to promote it or follow it up. About the same time, a song I wrote called "Into Your Hands" was nominated for a songwriting award by Airplay International Independent Record Charts. I flew out to Nashville for the awards program and did a 5-song showcase at the event. The song didn''t win but the experience helped me decide to make the move to Music City a year later. I settled in Franklin and continue to write, record and perform as much as possible. I also play guitar in the praise band at my church, which is where I met David Phelps and heard him sing. I knew "Your Love" was perfect for him and handed his wife, Lori, a cassette of it in a grocery store parking lot. Seven years later, in 2008, he recorded it on his CD "The Voice"and I got my first major label cut. That year, I also released my first album "Anything but You" and have just released my new Christian album called "Someone To Believe In".
