Details:
Yuri Markin (born in 1942) is a Russian composer, arranger and pianist. He studied composing at the Moscow Conservatory of Music. His teacher was the famous composer Rodion Schedrin. Yuri Markin is an author of both classical and jazz music including numerous symphonies, operas, ballets, sonatas, concertos and pieces for different instruments.
The music presented at this album is Yuri Markin’s homage to Sergei Prokofiev, his favorite composer. Creating jazz interpretation of the most well-known Prokofiev’s ballets, Cinderella and Romeo & Juliet, was not an easy task. However, Markin’s hard work and persistence gave a desired result.
