Viva La Musica

The latest release by Claud Rivers, “Viva La Musica,” (Long Live Music), is one of his best efforts to date. It contains a great variety of songs and is befitting the title. It has (5) five very distinctive jazz tunes that are both fresh and invigorating to the listener. Two have a Latino flavor. One uses the Koto, a Japanese instrument. And two use a pair of saxophones to deliver the melodies. These jazz selections, while very smooth and relaxing, keep you anticipating what’s next. Claud has done a great job orchestrating these pieces. Several could easily be used by big bands without creating any extra parts. His arrangements make them sound like a big band is performing them on the CD. I think several of these songs will eventually be picked up by the motion picture industry. The quality , sound and freshness are all there and any of these songs would enhance any picture or scene. Film directors should take a serious listen to these tunes if they are looking for theme songs for new TV shows or even motion pictures.

The other six selections are two vocals by Claud and four by Theo V. Foreman. Remember Claud released a CD featuring Theo in 2005. That CD was responsible for Claud’s music charting on the Independent Label Charts in Australia on a continual basis from 2005 through 2009. Claud does a Blues song called “Open Wide” and a new rendition of his new line dance... The Cha Cha Shuffle (Bonus Trax). Theo, as usual, delivers his smooth silky vocals on top of jazzy music written by Claud. All four of his songs are danceable and deliver the message each title suggest. The song “Temptations Keep Breaking Me Down” is produced well with Theo singing all the background parts. This song sounds like it is done by an all male group with three or four members. His performance on “Love Hurts” lets you hear the unique vocal harmony Claud uses when he works with Theo. Everyone wins when these two artists get together. If you need more proof of this fact just listen to the sincere delivery Theo gives on the crossover song “Baby Come Home.” This song is done in a non-traditional formula but delivers the message in a straight forward manner.

This could be the first small independent label CD to tear up the charts in a long time. After you hear selections from this CD, I am sure you will want to own the entire CD. So go ahead and BUY IT NOW!!!
