“Daybreak Express,” from La Luz, New Mexico, is four teenage (14-16 yr. old) musicians who enjoy playing and performing bluegrass, country, old-time fiddle, and gospel music.
Cousins, Clint and Cheyenne , began taking violin lessons at the age of 6. A few years later, we branched off into old-time fiddle music under the direction of well-known old-time fiddle player and eight time New Mexico state fiddle champion, Junior Daugherty.
In August 2004, the band “Daybreak Express” was formed when Chaney on the bass, and Shawnee, on the mandolin, joined us. Some original songs written and composed by individual band members are now a part of each performance.
“Daybreak Express” began with family and positive values as its foundation and there is tremendous amount of support shown by our parents, siblings, grandparents, relatives, and friends.
We have become quite well known locally and have had the opportunity to open shows for Michael Martin Murphey, Jana Jae, and The Sons of the Pioneers.
