MP3 Dawn Humphrey - Enjoy The Dance

Bluesy, Celtic Mountain Folk, with a twinge of political unrest.

15 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Political, BLUES: Acoustic Blues

Details:
Dawn Humphrey''s second CD release, "Enjoy The Dance", is a simple self-produced, acoustic recording, much quieter than her first, with Celtic and Peidmont Blues influences. It is filled with great songs, both timely and topical, and sweet and personal. Along with 12 new original songs, Humphrey has also included a traditional gospel song, an Irish song, previously recorded by Sinead O''Connor, and a Led Zeppelin song.

Dawn''s big, bluesy, sometimes sweet vocals and solid guitar work are enhanced with rich harmony vocals and percussion from members of her acoustic Celtic Blues ensemble, Sidhe, (pronounced "She"). Dawn gets together with Sidhe members to perform at parties, festivals, and holiday events, but plays most of her gigs solo these days.

With the release of her first CD, "You Don''t Have To Wait Until Heaven", six years after first picking up the guitar, Dawn left social work to have more time for making music, and had her first and only child, Jed. Dawn remains part time in the helping professions, so she can stay connected to her other passion, teaching people with developmental disabilities, and helping them to become more independent.

The cover art on "Enjoy The Dance" was done by Sharon Ray Scafidi, Asheville, NC area artist, and Sidhe vocalist. It signifies Dawn and her son, Jed, who were both born in the year of the snake in the Chinese zodiac. The CD was recorded by David Bradshaw, Asheville-based musician, and sound engineer, and the insert was made by graphic artist, Heather Kabat, also of Asheville, NC.
Original Sidhe member and talented artist, Lisa Foote, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, provides lead vocals on "I''ll Fly Away", and "I Am Stretched Out On Your Grave".

Humphrey continues to perform around the Southeast, mostly in the western North Carolina area, and occasionally in the Northeast as well. She has opened for such acts as Al Pettaway and Amy White, Peggy Seegar, and Laura Love. When not writing, performing, or recording music, Dawn spends time with family and friends, raises her son, Jed, teaches developmentally disabled individuals, volunteers, and assists with activism projects and fundraisers, teaches Sunday school, and cooks delicious food. Dawn has recently been writing many songs for children, and plans for her next release to be a children''s CD.
