Details:
Among the great number of guitarists in our country (Switzerland) David Wildi has found his own voice. In terms of sound Wildi is a traditional player. His tone is clear and he doesn’t use loads of electronical chitchat.
Wildi‘s stile preferences are modern. Groovy beats are important. His music is not an experiment. The underground is well planned and gives a solid foundation for the spontaneous soloist. David Wildi‘s playing is quiet, well thought, every note is important. His tension is more introvert but still very emotional and catchy.
David Wildis compositions reflect his way of playing the guitar. The fine melodic lines are built on a solid rhythmical foundation. The result is a clear music which doesn’t need any more ingredients. The best way to show his ideas of music is the quartett because the „small“ formation suits his music best.

The David Wildi Quartett plays very melodic tunes with a fusion or even rhythm and blues underground. Some compositions remind the listener of mainstream modern groovy jazz. The quartet’s music enjoys an audience of all age groups. The catchy rhythms create an imediate access to the tunes. You simply have to move to the groove.

Stefan Stahel’s keyboard stile has a solid pianistic background. He is a great band player and solo pianist.
Pius Baschnagel is a drummer with taste. His solid rhythmic presence creates a good foundation for every band.
Together with Stephan Athanas and his full and round bass sound the rhythm section is the organic centre of the quartett. They play hand in hand or beat in beat.

The David Wildi Quartett can be seen as a well welcome new facette of the Swiss jazz scene. And by the way: good guitarists are hard to find. But in David Wildi we have definitely found one. Let’s hope that we may hear more of his originality and technical knowledge soon.
