Details:
The follow-up to "Reinvenion," British-born singer David Nathan''s critically-acclaimed Nefer Music debut CD is a tribute to the late, legendary Nina Simone, one of the soulful jazz/blues vocalist''s primary influences. "Wild Is The Wind/Tribute To Nina Simone," is a three-song EP that includes two original Nathan compositions. "Of all the artists who have ever impacted me both musically and personally, I''d say Nina Simone is easily the most important. From my teen years running her fan club in the U.K. to contributing to my sister, Dr. Sylvia Hampton''s 2004 biography about her, Nina has played a vital part in my life. This is my musical way of paying tribute to her and her music."

The bluesy bonus track "Strange Mood" was a song Nathan played for the late musical legend some years prior to her passing in 2003. "I felt so elated when I got a phone message from Nina saying how much she like what she''d heard," says Nathan. "Who Stole The Moon?" is an early Nathan composition that he intends to revive soon: "It was one of the first songs I wrote when I came to Los Angeles in the ''80s and this is the original version. I intend to do a new one later this year along with some more original compositions for a new CD to be released under the name ''Pharaoh''s Dream.'' Stay tuned!"

With the release of his 2003 Nefer Music CD “Reinvention,” London-born singer David Nathan found himself stepping out front: encouraged by musical friends such as Bonnie Raitt and the late Doris “Just One Look” Troy to pursue his musical dream and recall great coaching he received from the likes of Roberta Flack, David launched his musical career in earnest in 2003 after doing occasional performances in and around Los Angeles: “The music on the album is like a throwback to another era. When people listen they hear shades of Nina Simone, Esther Phillips, even Billie Holiday. People may be surprised by what they hear on the CD but despite my very sincere and genuine love of R&B music, most of the songs I chose fall into the general realm of jazz/pop standards.” says Nathan, whose performing credits include appearances at local Los Angeles clubs as a soloist and on shows with such luminaries as Freda Payne and Jody Watley. He has also sung with various choirs, sharing the stage with Natalie Cole and participating on recording sessions with Nancy Wilson and the late Peter Allen among others.

"Reinvention" received some great comments from renowned artists:

“A soulful, well-produced debut of jazz-flavored classic R&B, sung by one of its most passionate devotees.” Singer/songwriter Bonnie Raitt

“David Nathan sings from the heart for the love of it all. David nurtured and helped bring blues, soul and rhythm & blues music to London and subsequently blues, soul and rhythm & blues music nurtured and inspired David to record this project. ”Reinvention” is an honest and personal expression of music he holds dear, infused with raw passion and sincerity.” Stix Hooper (formerly of The Crusaders)

“You waited for us to fall off the charts before doing this CD, David! It’s great, a mixture of blues, jazz…and soul!” Singer James Ingram

“The thing I like best is that you''re not trying to imitate anybody; you have your own sound and style. Plus, your choice of material is excellent. Production is
terrific, too. Well done!” Singer and music historian Billy Vera
