Details:
Gene Harris left us truly as a legend in jazz piano. His intense energy simply electrified the stand. His musical contributions will never be forgotten

"Just Blues"..Reflections of the Artistry of Gene Harris is the second in a series by Dick Clark paying tribute to such greats as Oscar Peterson, Gene Harris, and Monty Alexander. This album follows the "Evening of Piano Jazz" recorded live in concert in April of 2005.

On this album, Clark once again digs in and creates that feeling of the Harris groove that so signified his style. The tribute starts with a down home Harris type groove, "The Way Gene Would Groove It!" followed by a straight ahead blues, "Hanging With The Harris."

The third tune, "A Song For Gene," was inspired by the legendary Neal Hefti in his Count Basie recorded composition, "Lil Darlin." The feel of this tune is reminisent of the wonderful Basie days of Freddie Green on guitar, Eddie Jones on bass and Sonny Payne on drums. This very slow, classic Basie type tune is intended to allow the listener to pause and relect in memory of Gene Harris.

The album''s final tune features a bright, uptempo swing tune entitled, "As Only Gene Would Do It!" This strong back-beat blues creates a lot of energy so typical of the Harris style.

All of the selections on this album were composed by Dick Clark in honor of Gene Harris. Clark, who is both a pianist and upright bass player, recorded each of the piano, bass, guitar, and drum fill tracks. The entire album was recorded on his Kawai Digital Grand piano. Most people who enjoy the album cannot believe that one person recorded all of the tracks on a digital piano and so successfully created the feel of a live quartet. "Hats off to Kawai for designing an incredible instrument with sounds that truly sound real, unlike most failed attempts of the competition" says Dick Clark.

Like "An Evening of Piano Jazz," the album was mastered by OtherWorld Studios in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Special thanks goes to Vince Wasilewski, mastering engineer, and to a great friend, Kevin Gugliotta the photographer who creatively captured the piano keyboard reflections from Clark''s sunglasses.

In 2006, Dick Clark created a new entity to promote new talent. Clark Group Productions, a division of Clark Leadership Consulting, Inc., will focus its energies on advancing highly talented artists from wishing they could record a demo to providing all of the consulting, instrumental backing, performance, studio recording, CD design, and executive producing resources needed to make an artists'' dream come true. Clark is president and CEO of the company and serves as an Executive Producer for the clients of the firm. He can be contacted at www.clarkgroupprod@https://www.tradebit.com.
