“IS-K”

Born in Newberry South Carolina the 22 year old rapper just keeps getting better with every bar, verse, and song. Is-k began to take hip-hop seriously at the age of 18. While attending Mid-Carolina High School, the rapper would listen to his homeboys freestyle battling and reciting other artists raps. At first the youngster would just sit back and admire others talents. He then started to go home and recite his own raps over other mainstream artists beats. One day while listening to his homeboy surface, who then was a member of the 3rd platoon, IS-K decided to jump into the cipher and recite a rhyme he had been working on the previous week. Surprised by the response he received from his fellow peers, the artists then decided to take the art more seriously. He then purchased a Karaoke machine and started to write rhymes over the beats of other mainstream artists. He then started to tell a childhood friend Quinn (aspectz) of his new found love for hip-hop. They then collaborated and formed the group South Bound. They started recording on the Karaoke machine until the early hours of the morning sometimes in the park or where ever they could find a spot. They then teamed up with T.I productions and recorded their 1st demo. Due to personal reasons the group parted ways from the company and then eventually parted ways from each other. But the love for the music just would not let the artist walk away from what he now lived and died for. With the backing of other local artists IS-K now decided to take it to another level. He now focused on not just composing verses anymore but composing complete songs. With the help of beat making from his cousin Marc (a.k.a John Doe) he then was able to complete a 7 song demo which he sold locally. The sales were astounding. The artists had 250 copies printed up, and had none left for sale within 2 days of the original press. But once again due to reasons the artist prefers not to comment on ties with his cousin were severed and it was back to the drawing board. That’s when his long time friend surface now of the group southern lecture told him that he was working with a company called Onke Entertainment who he felt had a promising future in the music industry. By means of surface IS-K sent a demo to the company. He then was invited to come and freestyle live personally for the owner of the company and then executive producer and vice president Grant (g4) Foy. He then was invited to do a collaboration with southern lecture for their scheduled product release of the course journey. Pleased with the artists delivery on the track, “Brand New Beginning” the artists was quickly summoned to begin work on his own solo project entitled tha one. Production on the album took off at an astounding pace. In fact at a pace that the label just was not able to handle. Fed up with false promises, and what the artists deemed as a lack of hunger, he knew it was time to jump ship. But where would he turn? At about the same time, the executive producer and vice president of Onke Entertainment, Grant (g4) then decided that it was also time for him to sever ties with the label himself. At that point the label Blackout Entertainment was born, with a love and commitment to making music of the highest quality possible, and looking out for the best interest of his artists, IS-K knew this was a place he wanted to call home. He then severed his ties with his former label and went to Blackout Entertainment. Now with a place to call home where he has complete freedom as a artist, and surrounded by a real atmosphere, the artist is nearing completion of his freshman offering. The LP entitled “Tha One” exhibits versatility at its best. With up north flows smoothly recited to street tracks, to down south in your face production with club banger lyrics, IS-K covers everything from society to hustling, to the face of the industry now as a whole, as well as the misrepresentation or lack thereof, of artists from the Carolina States. Seeking national distribution, while promoting locally, it is without a doubt that IS-K is the artist of the future. Production is still owned by Blackout Entertainment, although IS-K is now signed to Borgata records.
