A Brief History of De-Hydrated
As Written by Dax

I began playing guitar in 1988 at the age of nine. I was inspired by hard-rockin hair bands like Motley Crue, Whitesnake, WASP. etc. I loved heavy metal and was totally obsessed with all things music. Luckily, I had very supportive parents. They went out of their way (and still do) to indulge my passion. So, since that time I’ve taken lessons, grew my hair out, played in bands, recorded, cut my hair, etc. Fast forward to junior high.

This is where I first met Steve "Steve" Osborn, although at the time he was only known as Steve Osborn. The "Steve" didn''t come till much later. Steve and I had a couple classes together. Among them was gym. We had a lot of time to get know each other in gym class as we were always picked last for the day’s activities. If that weren’t enough, Steve also had a really long ratt-tail. For those of you who missed that killer hairdo, it''s when you grow out a single lock of hair. From the moment I saw it, I knew it was the perfect yin to my mega-mullet yeng. Even though Steve didn''t play an instrument at the time, he was really into music. Not as much into metal as I was, he''s always had a wierd/broad taste. I''d say more into songs than bands maybe. But anyhow, we hit it off, and have been annoyingly inseparable ever since. Fast forward to 2002.

This was a banner year for me. My daughter Elizabeth was born and I bought my first car. It was also when I met Josh Dickerson (the man now known as Bryan Trust). The first time I met Josh was at a party at a house he shared with some mutual friends. I actually thought that he was one those friends from grade school that moves far away and comes into visit now and then. (One of his roommates friends that is). I thought this because Josh grew up in Warsaw, KY and I had never seen him before. His hair was peroxide blonde and I think he had a bright, maybe tropical shirt. I might be making that up. Anyhow, he had a definite Spiccoli vibe (fast times at Ridgemont High) about him. He was a few years younger, kind of loud, and probably not someone I would have befriended normally. Not to sound like a jerk, he just wasn''t the sort I would normally hang out with. Now of course he is one of my closest friends. In fact, I like him way better than Steve (wink). Fast forward to January 2003.

This is when Josh, Steve and myself first started hanging out together. Josh wound up over at Steve’s alot because he was dating Steves'' girlfriends'' cousin. That, and he and Steve discovered that they both were video game enthusiasts of the highest order. Also around that time Steve came into a cheap drum kit and bass guitar. I think he actually got it in December. Once I found out I immediately started bugging him to jam. He kept putting it off though, saying that he wanted to practice a little first. So...on January 4th 2003, after numerous beers I''m sure, he decided he was ready to Jam. So Josh and I ran to my house to pick up my guitar and PA. We got back to Steve’s, assigned Josh to Bass duties and there you go. De-Hydrated!
