NOTES ON THE DEATH OF JASON BRODY:

The word death usually refers to the end of something; but in the case of THE DEATH OF JASON BRODY, in a move that may start him along the path to enigma status, Jason Brody, the man and the band, has evolved to the point where death represents a new beginning.

But back in late 2004 it was just the name Jason Brody that began to appear in the listings for live music in New York City as he struck out, often with band in tow, to conquer Gotham. Brody''s shows were a mix of solo-acoustic and full-band outings; both showcased an artist with an uncommon talent for weaving thoughtful, compelling musical masterpieces.

Released in March 2004, Brody''s debut album, To The Quick, received excellent reviews in Keyboard Magazine and a multitude of online outlets. Co-produced by Bryan Martin (Rufus Wainwright, Zap Mama, Mark Eitzel), it was a solid early effort and established Brody as a promising new voice, unafraid to bare all in his investigation of the dark corners of the human psyche.

As Brody navigated the constantly changing modern music industry he gathered together a dynamic, close-knit team that has grown to become integral in bringing the TDoJB experience to life. With longtime drummer Jeff Olson, Geoff Council on bass, and new addition Cary Hirschstein on guitar and keyboards the four-piece breathes life into Brodys heartfelt compositions, creating dark, romantic, unapologetic music for the up-all-night set.

TDoJB''s latest offering, a self-titled six-song mini album, arrives in mid-2006 and brings with it more mature and multidimensional musical themes. "Siren Song," with its soaring vocals and lush arrangement, explores themes of lust and disconnectedness and evokes long days, boozy nights, and an overwhelming sense of longing. In the quintessential breakup ballad "Broken," strings and acoustic guitar vie to convey an unmistakable sadness.

The new album expands on the unique sound evidenced in Brodys early efforts and reaches new levels of musical sophistication; it is the sound of a band coming together to achieve a shared vision. The band worked with stellar engineers and producers to bring these recordings to life. TDoJB was co-produced/engineered by Geoff Sanoff (Fountains of Wayne, Hem, Astaire), and was also co-produced/engineered and mixed by S.F. Norton (TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jay Farrar/Son Volt). As the new project is readied for release the band is fine-tuning its live show for engagements in and around New York and on the West Coast.

Discover a band that will challenge your preconceptions of pop music and will provide you with a new appreciation of what guitars, bass, and drums can conjure. Discover what death can bring; THE DEATH OF JASON BRODY is very much alive.
