Founded in early 1995 by members of several of Atlanta’s bands, The Despised blend fierce punk chord structures, powerful hardcore vocals and aggressive hardcore rhythms to produce one of the Southeast’s most relentless, unforgiving hardcore/punk bands to ever take an Atlanta stage. Voted in Atlanta’s “Poet’s Artists & Madmen” in January of 1996 as the band “most likely to incite a riot”. Characterized by many reviews as very fast, very hard, very mean, hardcore/punk; The Despised have left a lasting impression on fans across America and Europe with their ‘80’s style brutal and very fast, unrelenting hardcore. The Despised released their first EP “Music To Driveby” on GMM records in early 1997 and sold out of the first pressing in a couple months. A second EP entitled “Scourge of the South” was released in early 1998 on Kangaroo Records in Amsterdam Holland with strong sales throughout Europe and America.
The Despised has shared the stage with everyone from The Antiheros, Bad Brains, Submachine, Gang Green, Subhumans, GBH, Antiseen, Hellstomper, Nashville Pussy and The Business along with many others lost in the alcoholic haze…
The Despised has reunited after a 4 year break and will release a full length album in the summer of 2006 and has Japanese & European tours booked for fall of 2006.
The Despised is:
Rot-knee – Lead Vocals
Evan "Big E" – Guitar
Punk Rock Dave – Bass and Lead/Backing Vocals
Insane Shayne – Drums & General Band Management/Booking
“Are you pissed off? Really pissed off? Then you''ll probably want to visit some friends at The Despised homepage, for THE DESPISED is a hardcore band that has made a career out of being pissed off. Their website not only offers a distinct view of the lovely music they make, but also an insight into the corrupted minds that make the band truly despised.” -- Mike Farah, MTV
